I finally had my first appointment, in my journey towards an autism assessment and possible diagnosis. This meeting involved me going to see a nurse, who happens to specialize in mental health and was trained by a psychiatrist who in turns specializes in autism.
I am relieved that this first step is now over, although I cannot say I am all too thrilled or surprised at its outcome, which is basically nothing.
I answered some fairly broad questions, filled out some questionnaires, was told, "I don't know either way if that's what you have or don't have," and was sent on my way.
The file is next shipped off to a psychiatrist, whom I will meet soonish.
